Po polsku omówił go TVN24 Biznes.

Why is Warsaw in the news? (B1 English)

Every year, the company Oxford Economics makes a list of the world’s leading cities. In 2026, New York, London and Paris are at the top again. But the report also names 28 „cities to watch”. These are places that are growing fast and may become more important in the future.

BBC Travel chose five of them: Toulouse, Ho Chi Minh City, Warsaw, Medellín and Abu Dhabi.

Warsaw made one of the biggest jumps in the index. It climbed more than 100 places and is now 61st. Its score for quality of life is now higher than the score of London, New York or Tokyo. Experts expect its economy to grow by about 3% a year. That is almost twice as fast as the average European city.

The BBC spoke to Konrad Warzecha, a Polish-Australian man whose family lives in Wola, a district of Warsaw. He has watched new roads and tall towers appear for 20 years. He says the city is now almost unrecognisable. As a child, he did not feel safe on the trams. Today he feels safer than ever: people walk at night and the streets are clean.

His tip for first-time visitors is a walk from the Palace of Culture and Science along Nowy Świat to the Old Town. He also suggests lunch in a bar mleczny (milk bar), a simple, cheap restaurant with home-style food. A three-course meal with drinks costs about £13.
